Alps Sweetheart Costume

Ok, maybe that's just a flight of fancy but this is the same old style of waitress costume that you will find all over the world, except this has an Alpine look to it.

I'm not sure why German or Alpine style serving costumes are so popular but they certainly seem to be. Maybe it's because there is lots of beer drinking and generally partying associated with them. Like most German waitress style costumes, this outfit has it's origins in the dirndl form of traditional dress.

The dirndl is basically a peasant or folk costume for women throughout the Alpine region. This includes Germany and Austria, parts of Switzerland and Italy. Although the costume has it's origins as a peasant dress, it has been modified to be an emblem and icon of the region to such an extent that derivations of the costume like this Alps Sweetheart Costume are even made from it.

The Alps Sweetheart Costume is a one piece dress that you step into and it zips up at the back. The dress replicates the typical dirndl – a skirt, bodice, blouse and apron. As this is a serving costume or meant to show off the dimensions of the skirt are slightly smaller than the traditional costume.

In fact the skirt or dress is a mini skirt or dress and has a lace petticoat to give it a bit more shape. It comes in a red color with alpine pattern trim.

The bodice is described as a lace up vest. There is a lace arrangement at the front so that you can adjust the dress to your shape and ensure that you are comfortable.

The blouse section of the dress has short puffy style short sleeves. Included with the costume is an apron that is affixed to the front on the skirt. There is also a black choker to offset the rest of the costume and give the wearer a slightly elegant and exotic look.
