The Dirndl

The Bavarian Bar Maid Costume is actually a traditional one that is worn by the women of Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria, South Tyrol, and of course, Bavaria. Inspired by the Alpine peasant look, the dirndl has four main parts to it. Start with the blouse, then you have a bodice that goes over it for the top. The lower half consists of a full skirt topped with an apron. Although this ensemble may seem rather simple, looks can be deceiving. The modern ones made can cost you a pretty penny as it is exquisitely tailored from either silk or hand printed materials and fabrics.

For a bit of history, this costume actually originated as the uniform of Austrian servants somewhere in the 19th century. The word dirndl, when added the “gewand” to the end, dirndlgewand, actually means maid’s dress. Other forms of this look, but in a much simpler fashion, were also worn by other kinds of working women. It was only until the 1870s that the upper class and the so called elite society of Austria adopted the dirndl as high fashion.

Bavarian Bar Maid Costume - What Do You Get ?

The Bavarian Bar Maid Costume is actually a take on the traditional dirndl but with a modern sexy twist. It also has the four main parts, the bodice, the blouse, the skirt, and the apron but tweaked in a way that gives it a fresh new look while sticking close to its roots. Put on the off shoulder white ruffled blouse for starters then the red bodice that you lace up with green ties.

Not only does this add style but it also accentuates your curves by keeping your tummy in and you bosom out- two signature features of the typical bar maid. The bottom is a thigh high black ruffled pettiskirt lined in pink and white. Then, the final piece is the tine white makeshift apron that you tie neatly around your waist. Complete the whole look with a pair of knee high socks and tie your locks in pigtails with the pink ribbons that are part of the package.

Even though you will be dressed up in a Bavarian Bar Maid Costume, with this sultry look, you surely won’t be the one doing the serving.
